Takata Air Bag Recall

I work in the car industry and I am definitely impacted by the recall that has just been issued for more than 12 Million cars (October 2014).

We have been inundated with phone calls from people who fear they are at a dangerous risk and want to know if their car is part of this recall.  I thought I would just post quickly about how you can find out if your car is affected by the air bag recall.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall of more than 4.7 million car owner due to potentially defective air bags produced by the Takata company.

Manufacturers will notify owners by mail if their vehicle is included in this recall, but if you are interested in finding out now, The traffic safety administration has set up an online tool for drivers to look up their vehicle to determine if any recalls apply.

I have visited the site a few times today and it does seem like it may be taking quite a hit, as I got an error message a couple of times, but try back after a few minutes.

You can also try calling your local dealership.  They are also able to look up your information, but I can tell you from experience that you may have an even harder time getting through because calls are flooding the lines.
